And Again, God Parted the Waters!
I love so many of the stories in the Old Testament! Who can ever forget the story of the Israelites facing the Red Sea and God parting the water so they could cross on dry land?
But there’s another story I love as well. It’s found in 2 Kings, chapter 2. Elijah and Elisha were at the Jordan River. Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided and they crossed on dry ground.
In verse 11, Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind and Elisha was left alone.
“He (Elisha) picked up the cloak that had fallen from Elijah and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan…. ‘Where now is the Lord, the God of Elijah?’ he asked. When he struck the water, it divided to the right and the left, and he crossed over.” 2 Kings 2:13-14
This wasn’t just one parting of the waters, but twice on the same day!
What uncrossable “water” or obstacle are you facing? The same God who did this miracle for Elijah and Elisha is with you! Trust Him! There is nothing He can’t do! If He did it before, He can do it again!
