Water and Miracles
There are many miracles in the Bible involving water. In 2 Kings 2:8 it says, “Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided to the right and to the left, and the two of them (Elijah and Elisha) crossed over on dry ground.”
In Chapter 14 of Exodus, we read the story of Moses parting the Red Sea. Again, the Israelites crossed on dry ground. Then the water flowed back and covered the Egyptians.
In Mark chapter 4, there’s the story of a storm. Jesus was asleep in the boat and the disciples woke him. Jesus said, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the winds died down and it was completely calm.
Why are there so many miracles involving water? First of all, it would take a supernatural act of God to part the waters and dry the land so it could be walked on.
And the storm? Only Jesus could speak to the wind and the waves and cause them to cease.
I believe God gave us these illustrations to show us that if we are facing a “Red Sea” that we cannot get around, He can part the waters and bring us through it.
And if we are facing the greatest storm of our life, He can bring us calmness and peace!
Whether you are facing a “storm” or a “Red Sea,” God will bring you through it! Put your faith and trust in Him!
