Redirection

Isn’t it great that we can put directions in our phones and find our way to a location where we have never been before? I am truly amazed by modern technology! The problem is, even with this amazing technology, I can still take a wrong turn! But as soon as I do, my phone will redirect me, and somehow, I manage to find my way!

As I was thinking about this, I realized how similar this is to what goes on in our minds. At times, there can be a real battle in our minds. We can have negative thoughts, ungratefulness, wrong attitudes, or a number of other things.

How do we react when these thoughts come into our minds? Do we just give in to them? Absolutely not! When we have thoughts come into our minds that we know are not pleasing to the Lord, that is our opportunity to “redirect” out thinking!

Gratitude is a great place to start! Begin to count your blessings! Maybe we ask God to help us have forgiveness and a better attitude toward someone who has offended us. And sometimes we might just lift our hearts in praise to our great God for who He is and what He has done for us.

Whatever we might choose to do, we can know for sure that God is right there with us to help “redirect” our thoughts!

Philippians 4:8 (MSG) says, “Summing it all up friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly, things to praise, not things to curse.” And that pretty much says it all!
