God is Our Refuge

The eternal God is your refuge,

And underneath are the everlasting arms.

He will drive out your enemy before you.

Saying, “Destroy him!”

Deuteronomy 33:27

I can’t think of any other time when we have needed this verse more than we need it right now. Our world seems to be in constant chaos. But as believers, we know that we have a refuge! The everlasting arms are holding us up.

One of the words that really stands out in this verse is the word “drive.” When I think of the word drive, I usually thing of it in connection with driving a car, but in this instance, it literally means that God will force the enemy to move; He will chase him down.

What about the word “destroy”? Destroy means to totally demolish something. “Destroy” is a strong word, but there is something really powerful about the word “demolish”!

If you are in a spiritual battle, remember that God is your refuge and He will drive out the enemy before you! But not just drive him out, He will demolish him! With God on our side, we will always be victorious!
