The Fear of the Lord

The Bible talks a lot about the “fear of the Lord.” If we start thinking about fear, it can cause us to be filled with anxiety.

But the word “fear” in this instance, is referring to awe or a reverence of God. And that’s what we need to havea reverence of God.

“He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life.” Proverbs 14:26,27

When we read these verses, we can see how important it is for us to have a reverence of God. If we do, we will have a shelter that is free of danger, and our children will be safe.

We will also have a fountain of life. A fountain of life sounds like a place of peace overflowing with joy.

Isn’t that what we all long for? The benefits are so worth the effort of having a reverence of God!
