The God About to Arrive

There have been so many great songs written recently about Heaven and our longing to go there. In the great book of Revelation, John is writing to the Christians.

John 1:4 (MSG) says, “All the best to you from the God who is, the God who was, and the God about to arrive….”

Having grown up in the church, I have heard all my life that Jesus could come at any moment. And I truly believe He could. None of us know for certain when Jesus is coming back, but I think it’s safe to assume that His return is closer now than it has ever been.

There is something so powerful and exciting about the phrase “the God about to arrive”!

When I read this, I have mixed emotions. On the one hand, it is so exciting to think of seeing Jesus face-to-face and to see our friends and loved ones who have gone before us. At the same time, it is challenging. There are people all around us who are not ready for His coming.

My prayer is this, “Lord, help me share the good news of the Gospel and help us to all be ready for ‘the God about to arrive’!”
