The Joy of the Lord

I have often quoted the verse that says, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” I just assumed it was probably from one of the Psalms. Recently, I was reading in Nehemiah and there it was! Nehemiah 8:10.

In the Bible version I was reading, the following sentence said, “You must not be dejected and sad!”

If the joy of the Lord is our strength, it would be almost impossible to be dejected and sad! But how do we keep that joy alive in our hearts?

I think we can keep our joy if we make it a practice to have a heart full of praise and thanksgiving. No matter what may be going on in our world, there is always something we can praise God and be thankful for! He gives us blessings every day! We could never thank Him enough! And that thankfulness brings us joy that brings us strength!

So, let’s try it! Let’s praise and be thankful! And may the joy of the Lord be your strength today!
