What’s In A Name?

I am reading the Bible through this year, and I have to admit sometimes I get lost in reading some of the names in the Old Testament.

Seriously, would you like to have the name Akkub or Bakbukiah? Or how would you like to be called Shabbethai? Why would God include all these names? I think it’s because those people were important to God.

What about your name? Does it have a meaning? Were you named for a special person?

Sometimes we may feel insignificant, like we don’t really matter. But the reality is we do matter! Our Heavenly Father has our names inscribed on the palms of His hands. (Isaiah 49:16)

Not only does He know your name, but He knows everything about you. “Even the very hairs of your head are numbered.” Matthew 10:30

Just in case you are wondering, Your Heavenly Father knows you by name, and He loves you!
