The Rear Guard

Isaiah 52:12 says, “God is leading you out of here and the God of Israel is also your rear guard.”

We know that as children of God, He is leading us. And knowing this is such a blessing. We know we can trust God to direct our paths.

But as I read this verse in several different translations, I kept seeing those two words “rear guard.” I wondered what that meant. I looked it up and this is what I found. A rear guard is a detachment to follow and protect a marching army.

Not only is God leading us, He is following and protecting us as well. And we know that as believers, we are in a battle and we are always marching forward.
