Stay on Your Toes

In Luke 22:31 and 32, Jesus said, “Simon, stay on your toes. Satan has tried his best to separate all of you from me…I’ve prayed for you in particular that you not give in or give out.” (The Message)

Jesus spoke these words to Simon Peter on the night he was betrayed. There are some important truths we can learn from this passage of scripture.

First of all, Jesus was very aware that the enemy would try to separate Peter from Jesus. Doesn’t he do that with all of us? We may be going through a trial and the enemy wants us to think God really doesn’t care about what we are going through.

Jesus also told Peter he had prayed for him not to give in or give out. It’s so important that we persevere in our faith. Persevere means we are going to continue despite opposition.

My favorite part was when Jesus said to Peter, “Stay on your toes.” That means we stay vigilant and aware. If we are “on our toes,” we will be ready to stand strong against the enemy when he tries to attack us and separate us from Jesus!

And one of my very favorite verses is Isaiah 54:17. No weapon formed against us will prosper!
