The Names of Jesus

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

I have heard the names of Jesus so many times in sermons and sometimes in songs. I looked up some of the definitions of these words. “Wonderful” means “extraordinary.” He is an extraordinary counselor!

“Mighty God” means “powerful creator.” “Everlasting Father” means He is our “eternal Father”a father that will never leave us! And “Prince of Peace” means He brings tranquility and quietness into our lives.

I have a friend who sometimes sends me prayers through texts. They always end like this: “In the Mighty, Marvelous, Majestic, and Matchless Name of Jesus.”

There’s an old song that says, “Kings and kingdoms will all pass away. But there’s something about that name.” There really is something about the Name of Jesus!
