Are We Going to Flee?
In Psalm 11:1, David said these words:
In the Lord I take refuge
How then can you say to me, “Flee like a bird to your mountain?”
One Bible translation says it like this:
“How dare you tell me flee…when I am trusting in the Lord?”
Sometimes, in the midst of a battle, the first thing we want to do is run and hide. Resisting the enemy seems too hard! After all, if we flee to the mountain, we can probably find a cave where we can hide!
But what if we chose a different path? What if we look the enemy in the face and said, “How dare you tell me flee?” Now those words alone might not be that effective, but if we follow up with “I am trusting in the Lord”—that changes everything!
The next time you are in the heat of a battle, don’t flee! Remember whose child you are, look the enemy in the face and say, “I am trusting in the Lord! And I’m not going to flee!”
