He Watches Over You and Me

Psalm 121 is one of the most powerful and comforting chapters in all of the Bible.

Imagine a God who watches over us and does not sleep! (Verse 3)

The sun will not harm us by day, nor the moon by night. (Verse 6)

He will watch over our life. (Verse 7)

He will watch over our coming and going both now and forevermore.

As I was thinking about this verse, I remembered several years ago being in a situation where there were bodyguards involved. It was interesting to watch them. They were well trained, very alert, always turning their heads from side to side. Doing everything they could to provide for our protection.

But as good as they are, they are only human. They still need sleep, but not our God! And while they may be well trained, they have no control over the sun and moon, but our God does! After all, He created the sun and moon. They may be able to watch over us for a period of time, but they cannot watch over our life for now and forevermore!

But our God is able to do all of this! That’s the awesome God we serve!
