Prayers to be Reckoned With
“The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t—not a drop for three and a half years. Then he prayed that it would rain, and it did. The showers came and everything started growing again.” James 5:16-18 (Message)
This may be one of the greatest passages in all the Bible. I love that it says Elijah was human just like us. Sometimes it’s easy to look at the great men of the Bible and forget that they were human. We sometimes see them as “super heroes.” We need to remember that the same God who heard and answered their prayers is the God who listens and hears our prayers!
It also says that when we pray, we need to be living right with God. That means we are doing our best to serve Him with all of our heart. If we are doing that, it says that our prayers are something powerful to be reckoned with!
My challenge to all of us is this. Let’s make sure we are living right and let’s pray harder! I want my prayers to be powerful! I want my prayers to be something to be reckoned with!
