Bezalel

Have you ever heard of this man? To be honest, I didn’t remember him, even though I know I must have seen his name many times when I have read the Book of Exodus.

He isn’t listed with the “heroes of our faith” in the eleventh chapter of Hebrews. He isn’t as famous as Noah (who built the ark) or Moses (who led the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry ground). So, to most of us, he would seem pretty insignificant.

And yet God thought enough of him to mention Bezalel in Exodus 31:3. The Lord told Moses that Bezalel was filled with the Spirit of God, wisdom, understanding, and knowledge and all kinds of skills.

The world may never know our names, but if God says we are filled with the Spirit of God (that Spirit that becomes the dominant influence in our lives), and if God says we have wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, if that’s what God says about us, what else really matters?

Even though I didn’t remember him, I desire to be more like a man by the name of Bezalel.
