Abraham – A Man of Faith
I love God’s Word! I know all of it is important, but there are certain chapters that challenge us and increase our faith. For me, Romans 4 is one of those chapters. It talks in-depth about Abraham’s great faith.
“Abraham became a father because he trusted God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding not to live on the basis of what he couldn’t do but on what God said He would do.” Romans 4:16-20 (MSG)
One translation says, “Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.” Romans 4:20 (NIV)
I think a good word to describe Abraham is the word “resolute.”
That word means to have a “fixed purpose.” Nothing could persuade Abraham that God was not going to be true to His word.
What about us? Do we have that kind of faith? That’s the kind of faith that moves mountains! Like Abraham, let’s have unwavering faith! Faith that will produce answers to our prayers! And let’s not forget to give glory to God!
