The Progression of Our Faith

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” 1 Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)

The first step in our Christian walk is to receive Jesus as our Savior. The next step is being built up and strengthened in our faith. And then we will be overflowing with thankfulness and gratitude to God.

I love looking up verses in different translations! The Message is one of my favorites and this is what it says, “Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start LIVING IT! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”

That’s pretty direct and there are times when we need to hear a clear and direct word from God. God doesn’t just want us to believe in Him; He wants us to “live out our faith.” And when we do that, and put our faith into action, we will experience the joy overflowing with thanksgiving.
